Easy Crochet Heart PATTERN
Follow this step by step pattern to make beautiful hearts!
Round 1
Chain 4. Make all of the next stitches in the first chain. 3 trc, 3 dc, chain 1, 1 trc, chain 1, 3 dc, 3 trc, chain 2 slip stitch
Round 2
Chain 3, in first trc make sc and hdc, in next stitch 3 hdc, in next stitch 2 hdc, sc in next four stitches, chain 1 dc in trc, chain 1, sc in next four stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch, 3 hdc in next stitch, hdc and sc in next stitch, chain 3 and slip stitch in center
Round 3
Chain 3, sc in top of chain 3 from the previous row, sc in each stitch all the way around (until chain 3 from the previous row). I chained one at the tip of the heart to get around the point easier. At the beginning of chain 3 from previous row chain three and slip stitch in the center of the heart. Pull the loop to the back and fasten off.
Inspired Crochet Designs wrote to me and said that if you make the following changes on Round 3 it will keep the top of the heart from curling. Used (2sc in next st) twice around the bumps of the heart in the last row. and it totally got rid of the curling edges. If you have trouble with curling this it is worth a try. It was easier for me to sc all the way around (chain one at the point of the heart).
How to make an easy crochet heart garland
Chain 45, in top of heart sc, chain 6, sc in top of the other side of the heart, chain 12, sc in top of heart, chain 6, sc in top of other side of the heart, chain 12. Repeat until all hearts are joined, chain 45 fasten off.

Hi – love the pattern but can’t see how to print it off without copying and pasting it to word or pressing control and print and it saying it will be 28 pages? Please is there a print pdf just hiding behind an ad or something? Thank you.
Bess Reed says
Do you have a pattern for a shamrock
Sally says

For those who are asking about all the abbreviations of the stitches or how to do them, there are numerous ones on Pinterest that show in detail, the abbreviations for each stitch and directions, even videos. They are great to pin and just keep where you can refer to them. I know I haven’t done double and triple crochets in awhile so had to refresh myself so I pinned one of them.

I’m glad I ran across your site! This is a cute, quick, little project I can think of several uses for! Thank you!

Hi Ruth,
She said she used (2sc in next st) twice around the bumps of the heart in the last row and it totally got rid of the curling edges.
Cindy says
yes that is about the size of mine…. but if I use embroidery thread they are smaller.
Ruth says
Also people are referring to these as small hearts but mine is 4″ across at the widest place. Is this the size they’re supposed to be.I used worsted weight yarn (medium) and an I hook
Ruth says
So what are those changes in row 3 you mentioned? I love this pattern but the top does curl so I’d love to try those changes inspired designs suggested. Could you post them or email them to me? Thank you

I’m from Brasil and we do not have a Valentine’s day. We have boy/girlfriends day and it’s on June 13th. Anyway I love hearts and love crochet as well. I’m now at almost 65 but I learned crochet all by myself when I was preagnant of my 37 y.o. daughter. From then I never stopped crocheting. But as I get old I’m not able to do longtime stuff. I’d reather do little pieces so hearts are my favorite or some baby clothing.

Thank you for sharing your pattern. I have a question on the directions. In the 2nd round it is stated to chain 3, do we chain three in the same space we did the slip stitch?
Thanks Rhonda
