Here is my favorite sugar cookie frosting. It is smooth creamy and oh so delicious! I promise you it really does make the very best sugar cookie.
I use this simple sugar cookie icing recipe all year round for any special event that I want to take sugar cookies to. This frosting for sugar cookies is great to spread on nice and thick with a knife on easy sugar cookies. or if you like cut out cookies this is the best sugar cookie recipe. So soft and buttery!
You will find this sugar cookie frosting has way more flavor than a cookie glaze with corn syrup. Some might call this sugar cookie icing. While this frosting will crust so you can stack the cookies it remains soft and delicious, unlike royal icing that gets hard. This sugar cookie frosting is more like a yummy buttercream frosting. You will not be disappointed!

I need to purchase my meringue powder, I have July and August wedding cakes to do!!!
The powder helps the frosting resist the heat. ❤️
What is Creme Bouquet???? Is it like meringue powder???
Thanks!
I’m excited to try this!
Can the frosting be made ahead and refrigerated for a day or two before I’m ready to decorate, or does it crust too quickly to store? Thanks!
I agree with the title, this IS the best sugar cookie frosting ever!
I’ve finally found the buttercream recipe I’ve been looking for! Thank you! I’ve used it on cookies and a cake. I thinned it just a bit for the cake. I love the way it crusts and is instantly creamy. Soooooo good!
So far I’ve only made the cookie dough and it’s delicious! BUT beware I have a large Kitchen Aid mixer and 1 batch of dough was spilling over the edges with the mixing. LOL
I plan on trying the icing too and I’m excited. I’ve been craving a delicious, decorated sugar cookie and they don’t seem to be found in stores around here. 🙁
Thank you for these recipes, I’m excited!
How long does the icing take to “cure” and make them stackable? at least I hope that’s possible, maybe not, they’re quite lovely!
The best frosting I’ve ever made! Thanks for sharing Cindy.
