This recipe comes together with 5 simple ingredients if you count the 2 eggs as 2 ingredients! No kidding, yellow cake mix, 1 stick of butter, 2 eggs, and 1 bag of chocolate chips!

Here’s all You need to make this recipe

  • 1 stick of butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 yellow cake mix
  • 1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips (2 cups)

SUBSTITUTIONS and ADDITIONS

  1. To elevate these bars to extra decadent, substitute white chocolate chips for semi-sweet chips.
  2. For a flavor burst, add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Just combine eggs and vanilla.
  3. If you are using unsalted butter, you could add 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt to this recipe.
  1. Melt butter and transfer into a mixing bowl to cool slightly.

  3. Stir in cake mix

  5. Press into greased 9 x 13 cake pan (I think they come out easier for cutting if the pan is lined with parchment paper and then sprayed.) Whatever works best for you is great.Press dough into parchment lined pan.

Serving and Storage

It’s so hard to wait until these are completely cool to slice and serve…so, you don’t have to wait until they are cold! If you serve it while warm, the chocolate is slightly gooey making these so satisfying!

Slice enough to serve and leave the rest intact, as the unsliced portion stays fresh longer.

Store in an airtight container!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

Prep Time 8 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes

Ingredients  

  • 1/2 cup butter 1 stick
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 yellow cake mix
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 bag
