While this frosting will crust so you can stack the cookies it remains soft and delicious, unlike royal icing that gets hard. This sugar cookie frosting is more like a yummy buttercream frosting. How much is 2lbs of icing sugar in cups
This sounds like a great recipe for decorated cookies. Just be sure and let the cookies set for approximately 30-45 minutes after decorating for the icing to harden enough to stack or store.
I always make the Wilton Snow White Buttercream Frosting. That recipe calls for 12 cups/3 pounds of powdered sugar. It also uses a meringue base, along with almond, vanilla and butter flavors.
Happy Baking
There is a certain amount of cornstarch in confectioner’s or icing sugar.
Iam confused with Diane’s comment, because I do not see cornstarch in the recipe. Thanks.
Where do you find creme bouquet?
You can also use LorAnn Princess Bakery Emulsion instead of Creme Bouquet. They’re very similar. For those questioning the 2 lbs. of confectioners sugar, that is why this buttercream crusts. You need that much sugar and cornstarch to butter ratio for crusting.
Yes Kathy. Let it set out uncovered until it crusts then you can stack. I do put wax paper between each layer.
Does this icing harden enough to stack the cookies?
Thank you,
Kathy
TWO lbs of powdered sugar?! Is that right? Just want to be sure?
Does the frosting dry hard or does it stay fairly moist? Just wondering for storage purposes (stackable?).
I want to make these for a bridal shower just wondering do you put pink food coloring to get them pink ( is this a dumb question ? Just can’t’ visualize how they are pink? Or does the cream bouquet make them pink?
Would you use this on cupcakes too? Does it stay soft or harden? How much frosting do you get with the recipe? Thanks!
Is it really 2 pounds of powdered sugar?
If you use the crème bouquet do you leave out the 1 tsp of vanilla in the receipe?
2 lbs of powdered sugar seriously? As in nearly a kilo?!
