Pour into a bottle. We used a recycled pickle relish bottle. A glass bottle works well too, especially since it will be heated in the microwave.

Notes:

  • You can substitute butter for the coconut oil, however the coconut oil gives the more ‘real’ Magic Shell flavor.
  • You can use milk chocolate chips, but everyone we served preferred the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  • This homemade magic shell is great to keep on hand for a last minute dessert for unexpected guests.

  1. I also received a letter from Pinterest about this (when I clicked on their link it showed the photo of the spoonful of ice cream). I just tried re-pinning it, using the bowl photo and it went through. I’ll see if it stays there!

  2. Pinterest deleted mine too!! So, I came back to your blog, repinned it, leaving out the brand name, and gave it a different name. Thanks for the recipe! I can’t wait to try it! 🙂

  3. I’m so sorry they deleted your link for this because of the “Magic Shell” issue. I can’t help but wonder why they would do such a thing. Keep up the great work! Love your page!

  4. When I saw that Pinterest was required to delete this pin …I panicked. BUT I came here to Skip to my Lou, searched for the recipe, and sighed relief… I have now bookmarked this page so that I can find it when I NEED to make more… and I will 🙂 Thanks for the recipe – it is wondermous!!!

  5. My pin was also deleted and I know that it led to this page. I had used the recipe and loved it. Very confusing.

  6. Is there a problem with this post being pinned? I’m assuming, based on a the previous comment, that we all must have had this recipe pinned from a plagerized source? Is it alright if we pin this post directly from this blog?

  7. @Jeanine @Jamie They deleted mine as well, so I imagine it was an entire thread of them.. I recall being on this site before though, so I’m pretty sure mine was from the original. Perhaps Cindy doesn’t want her content pinned? (Which is her right, though probably a futile one, since pictures can be saved and content duplicated if desired, but I’d rather have pinterest point to the original authors/posts, wouldn’t you?)

In any case I’ve re-pinned it from this site (so it should link back here properly). I guess we’ll see?

  8. I just wanted to let you know that I received a notice from Pinterest saying that you requested all the pins that are generated from this recipe to be taken down. After seeing how concerned you are about trademark and copyright violations, I took the liberty of reporting your use of ‘Magic Shell’ to Smuckers. Don’t be surprised when you receive the cease and desist notice from their attorneys.

  9. I re-pinned this on Pinterest and it was removed today. However, I noticed that only the image was used. I am adding a pin of my own using not only the image but the link to this very posting. Looks like someone may have just used the image, If it is removed, then I won’t re-pin it.

  10. I re-pinned this on Etsy and it was removed today. However, I noticed that only the image was used. I am adding a pin of my own using not only the image but the link to this very posting. Looks like someone may have just used the image, If it is removed, then I won’t re-pin it.

  11. @Jeanie, they deleted mine too.. Maybe we did not have it pinned from the original source. When I did a reverse image search to find the original, I did come across a couple of sites that had either stolen the entire post (not the one at alpha mom) or were using the photo without credit…

  12. Yes, I agree w/ Jeanine! I had reprinted this recipe, and apparently you complained to them about copyright infringement? You don’t seem to be living up to your own mission statement, “Skip to My Lou is a place to SHARE the best things in life” , or some such statement. Whatever!

  13. Pinterest removed my pin of this… I see you’re on Pinterest and I’d be happy to repin it from you if I could find it. I don’t have time to browse 65 boards and 900+ pins, though…

  14. I’m sad that Pinterest has deleted my pin of this! I don’t know if I’ll be able to find it again when I need it! Why?!
