Skillet Ziti Recipe {Quick & Easy Meal}

Posted by  ·  February 28, 2012  ·  Last Updated: February 28, 2012

I love good skillet recipes because they are quick and easy meals! This Skillet Ziti is super delicious!

Skillet Ziti

2 teaspoons olive oil
6 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon salt
pinch of red pepper flakes
2 –  14.5 ounce cans diced tomatoes with basil and oregano
3 cups water
16 ounces uncooked ziti pasta
½ cup heavy cream
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup grated mozzarella cheese

Saute oil, garlic and red pepper flakes in a large oven-safe  skillet over medium-high heat for about 2 minutes (do not brown garlic). Add canned tomatoes, water, ziti and salt. Cover and cook over medium heat, stirring often (about every two minutes to keep pasta from sticking to bottom of pan). Cook until ziti is almost tender about 15-18 minutes. Stir in cream, Parmesan. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

If you do not have an oven-safe skillet, transfer the pasta mixture into a 2-quart casserole dish before sprinkling with the cheese and baking. Sprinkle mozzarella evenly over the pasta. Place skillet to oven and bake until cheese has melted and browned, about 10 minutes.

    This is a great recipe. I make it all the time. I'm a great cook and small alterations and substitution don't keep it from tasting like some of the best Ziti I've had in fine Itslian restaurants in NYC.

      Write it out or take your tablet, laptop, phone to the kitchen. It ain't that serious.

    Made a couple of changes because we live 22 miles from grocery store. You learn to make do with what you have. No ziti used elbow mac. No cream used canned evapo milk. Used my home canned tomatoes just chopped them up and added the herbs. Added a little chopped onion with the garlic. Turned out really good will make it for my grandkids. Thanks!

    Made this last night and the whole family loved it, even my two picky children! Used my enamel coated cast iron skillet and worked perfectly. Looking forward to leftovers for lunch today! :) Thanks for the recipe.
