Grab a glass canning jar, some flowers in your back yard, and you on your way to creating an amazing mason jar may day basket! My free printable tags make it extra special.
You will need:
- mason jar (or any jar with a bit of a lip to hold the wire)
- flowers (I often have to ‘borrow’ flowers from a neighbor)
- about 36 inches of 16 gauge wire (you could use ribbon or twine to make a handle)
- pliers for bending the wire
- wirecutter for cutting the wire
How cute is this little play on the typical Happy May Day! I am switching it up and saying, “May your Day be happy!
I have tags in black and pink. You choose! Both look great printed on a variety of colored and white cardstock. I found my chevron embossed Kraft paper in my craft room. I found it awhile back at the craft store. I also used embossed kraft colored paper for these funny wine tags.
Download the file and print it.

Cut out the tags. Fasten them with ribbon or clips. I am a huge fan of these mini clothespins.
Wrap one end of the wire around the jar and twist it to tighten it to the jar,
Next, make hoop up and around to the opposite side of the jar directly across from the original wire tie. Do the same thing as before, wrapping the last end of the wire around the neck of the jar and twist it on itself to tighten the wire to the jar
Twist the ends so there are no sharp edges.
Pick a few flowers and place them in the jar filled with water. You are now ready to go “ding and dash” and make someone’s day. Who wouldn’t enjoy such a beautiful surprise?
Go forth and deliver flowers!
No mason jars? No worries! Try this printable may day basket. You can go old school and make a paper cone basket (this one you don’t even need flowers). You might have a basket already and you can use the above tags or try these printable May Day tags. Often when we can’t find flowers anywhere we will buy bedding flowers and make the container they come in the May basket.
