Bring on the cooler weather and fall baking. Today I am taking a break from pumpkin recipes to share this perfect apple crisp topping! I love a good apple crisp and this one is delish!

This crisp is a really good reason to fill your pantry with homemade apple pie filling.  All I had to do was open one of these jars and make a simple crisp topping. If you don’t have homemade apple pie filling you can use fresh apples or purchase apple  pie filling.

Apple Crisp Topping

3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, diced

To make the topping, combine the flour, sugars, salt, oatmeal, and  butter in the bowl of  a food processor or an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Mix on low speed until the mixture is crumbly.

Scatter topping evenly over the apples.

Bake for about 30-40 minutes at 350 degrees until the top is brown and the apples are bubbly. Serve warm with ice cream! YUM

If you like apple desserts this apple crostata is quick and easy.  Fresh apples are the perfect desert when paired with caramel apple dip.
