What is a good game to play in the car? These games listed below are all good games to play anywhere but they are especially good for road trips.  Road trip games work best when they are easy to learn and remember! You will love these fun games.

Mad Libs is a classic game that has been around forever and it never gets old! There are many titles and versions of the game, but this one is designed for children between the ages of 5-8 years-old. 

If you’re not familiar with the game, it’s simple and fun to play. Each page begins with a new story title. The story is written, but the blanks are for you to fill in with different parts of speech that are specified for each space.

I spy guessing game. I spy is a guessing game where the spy, or it, says “I spy with my little eye …” and players have to guess the object the Spy saw. This is the perfect car game because the scenery keeps changing and even very young children can play this game. If they are very young have them pick colorful shapes!

Classic Travel Games

20 Questions. One person picks something to be, such as a famous person or an animal, and then the rest of the passengers ask ‘yes or no questions’ until someone guesses who the person has chosen to be.

Rock Paper Scissors. This classic game is easy to play without any items, you just need your hands. Rock” is a fist…”Paper” is a flat hand…and “Scissors” is the pointer and middle fingers making snipping motions.  Two people shake their fists three times—and then show their chosen motion on the count of three. Winning hands are decided as follows: Rock breaks/dull scissors… Scissors cuts paper… Paper covers rock. Play three or 5 times…and see who has the most wins. This is also a good method to see who goes “first” in games.

Pick a number between 1 and 100 (or whatever you choose).  Kids love guessing games.

Magnetic Travel-size games such as Monopoly, Sorry, Battleships, Chess, Backgammon, Checkers, and Chinese Checkers. These games are small and don’t have a large game board.

Book Game. This is just bringing some fun books. Try and bring books your children (or you) haven’t read before or as often.
