I found this recipe years ago (in a magazine but can’t remember which one) and I must warn you it is so yummy and addictive! The best part about this sauce is that it is made in the microwave, so it is fast and simple and makes a great homemade gift.
Praline Sauce
1 1/4 cups chopped pecans
7 Tablespoons butter (divided)
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
3 Tablespoons flour
3/4 cup light corn syrup
2/3 cup evaporated milk
Makes 3 cups of sauce.
Place chopped pecans in a microwave dish with 3 Tablespoons butter. Cook for 8 – 10 minutes, stirring twice. Watch the pecans closely to not burn them.
In another microwave safe bowl (I use a glass batter bowl because it has a lip for pouring) place remaining butter and heat until melted. Whisk in brown sugar, flour, and light corn syrup until blended. Cook on high 6-8 minutes, stirring twice, until the sugar is dissolved.
Add in 2/3 cup evaporated milk and the pecans, stir well.
Pour into jars.
Add a tag and bow and you have made some sweet little gifts! Consider packaging with a cool ice cream scoop to make it extra special. Put instructions on the back of the tag to keep sauce refrigerated and to reheat slightly in microwave to pour over ice cream.

I just made this and it was delicious! I made it on the stove top because I’m not a fan of microwave cooking. I browned the pecans and then melted the butter in a medium cooker and added the ingredients as per the recipe. I will make this during the Holidays and also as gifts on special occasions. Thanks so much for posting this recipe!

My pecans burnt after 4 minutes, what did I do wrong? Would the cook time really vary that much?

This is so yummy! Just made this. I wish I knew how long it would last in the fridge. I want to make up a lot and give as gifts.

How long will this safely last in the fridge? Can this be processed to keep in the pantry – if so, how would I do this and how long would it safely keep in the pantry?
Thank you

This sounds absolutely delicious! And I don’t know why you couldn’t can them in a water bath to make them shelf stable. I’m certainly gonna try it! I’ll be giving this as gifts to everyone!

I am celiac … so gluten free. Could corn starch be used for the flour?

I would love to find a way to can this so I could include it in make ahead gift baskets. I make 15 each year as party favors and I don’t have the room in the fridge for all the baskets. If anyone knows how to do it so it doesn’t need refrigeration I would love to know!!!!
