I am so excited about this meatball recipe. It is so delicious and my family loved it.  The best part…. it is completely gluten and dairy free!  Sometimes I really miss things like gravy and meatballs. Both those items usually contain various forms of gluten and dairy. These meatballs are in a savory gravy that is allergy friendly!   I don’t think you will be disappointed even if you can have wheat and dairy! I think you will find these tender meatballs swimming in a creamy and rich gravy so flavorful. As if it couldn’t get any better I have to tell you this is an easy meatball recipe made right in your Instant Pot. Meatball Recipe Ingredients

Just a few ingredients you will need to make these yummy meatballs.  This meatball recipe is sorta like Swedish Meatballs. It is a really great substitute if you are gluten and dairy free for sure! The best part is your family won’t miss those ingredients at all. These meatballs would also be superb in spaghetti sauce.  I am going to try them in my Instant Pot Spaghetti Sauce instead of the ground beef.

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 pound lean ground pork sausage
  • 3 tablespoons dried parsley
  • 3 tablespoons dried minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 16 ounces sliced mushrooms button or crimini works (I used button) 
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • ½ cup water or broth (I used water)
  • 3 tablespoons gluten-free soy sauce

Mix together ground beef, sausage, 3 tablespoons dried parsley, dried minced onion, sage, and salt. Once mixed, form into meatballs about 1 1/2 inch in diameter. I made about 30 meatballs.  Place the mushrooms, onions, water, and gluten-free soy sauce into the inner pot of the Instant Pot. Add the meatballs. Cook on high pressure for 35 minutes. Once the time is up, carefully quick release the pressure.

Remove meatballs from the Instant Pot. Using an immersion blender, purée the cooked mushrooms, onions, and water into a nice creamy gravy. If the gravy is too thick, add a little more bone broth or water until the right consistency is reached.  If the broth is too thin add about 2 tablespoons cornstarch to the gravy.  Pour gravy over meatballs and serve over rice.

Ingredients  

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork sausage
  • 3 tablespoons dried parsley
  • 3 tablespoons dried minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 16 ounces sliced white button mushrooms
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • ½ cup water
  • 3 tablespoons gluten free soy sauce (or coconut aminos)

Instructions 

  • In a bowl mix together ground beef, sausage, dried parsley, dried onion, sage, and salt. Form into meatballs about 1 1/2 inches in diameter (about 30 meatballs). Place mushrooms, onions, water, and gluten-free soy sauce into the Instant Pot. Add the meatballs. Cook on high pressure for 35 minutes.  Once time is up quick release the pressure.
  • Remove meatballs.
  • Using an immersion blender, purée the cooked mushrooms, onions, and water into a nice creamy gravy. Add meatballs back into the gravy and serve over rice.
