To create you simple yet beautiful soccer ball, you would need the following –
- Sketching Pencils
- Kneaded Rubber Eraser
- Sketch Pad
- Erasable Colored Pencils
- Fine markers
- Sketch and Drawing Art Pencil Set
- Artist drawing set (This is great for new and experienced artists. It’s also something I give as a gift.)
Tip – When it comes to paper, you’ll want to use something with a good amount of texture. This will help the paper stay flat while you’re sketching and prevent your pencil from sliding around.
Step 1 – Draw a big circle in the middle. You can either sketch it freehand, or use a stencil or any circular shape to get a perfect circle.
Step 2- Using a ruler divide simple circle into 4 equal parts as shown in the image below. Draw two intersecting straight lines passing the center of the circle to get 4 equal parts.
Step 3 – Draw an equal sided pentagon with the help of a ruler. This pentagonal shape would help us to create shaded parts in the drawing later on.
Step 4 – Draw vertical line towards the center of the circle from each side of the pentagon. Refer to the image in case there is some confusion as this is a very crucial step.
Step 5 – Now for the secret sauce. Draw a small pentagon inside the bigger one preferably with the ruler’s help for side accuracy. Make sure that the pentagon is equal sided.
Step 6 – Make small triangle-like shapes towards the end points of each side of the pentagon as shown in the image enclosed. Now we’re getting somewhere!
Step 7- Just extend the line of each side of the triangle which you drew in the previous step in order to touch the edge of the circle by drawing short lines as shown in the image. A small but very significant step.
Step 8- Now the drawing is almost complete and is looking great. Carefully erase all the guide lines within or outside the pentagons and six-sided hexagon to get that perfect shape. Now this is your “make or break” step so carefully refer to the diagram while erasing to ensure 100% accuracy.
Step 9- This is our last soccer ball step and would require use of a black pen or marker. Just shade all pentagons touching the circle and hexagon in the center. Voila, congratulations on a brand new soccer Ball drawing with white background.
