These days we have been wondering where people go for their holiday inspiration? Where do you go to buy handmade gifts? And now, with the ending of such great publications like Country Home and Mary Engelbreit’s Home Companion, we would really love to know which magazines you will turn to now, to get your holiday fix.

For a chance to win one of our ornaments please leave us a comment by Monday midnight EST, Feb 9, telling us which magazines you read to get ideas for your holiday gifts and design inspiration from, and we will randomly choose one winner and send them one of our handmade limited edition Valentine Cupid ornament from our new 2009 collection (see first photo).

From Cindy:

There was an overwhelming response to having weekly “guest” giveaways. Over 95 percent of you said that it would be something you would enjoy. If you have a business you would like to promote or something you make and would like to host a give away please send me an email (again if you already did) and I will send you more information. Thanks!

  1. I have always enjoyed searching through magazines for ideas, inspirations, and instructions. My stash includes Sew Beautiful, the Quilting Arts publications, Threads, Martha Stewart publications, etc… And, I always look through these when available: Parents, BH&G, Family Circle, Woman’s Day,etc… which I may copy for my ongoing collection.

  2. I too am truly going to miss Mary E. I have kept every issue. I get Victoria and Martha Stewart. I guess that I’ll make due with these. I really get great ideas from blogs, too.

  3. I’ve been getting most of my ideas from blogs since I have just recently discovered them. I also google search and look at Martha Strewart magazine & Family Fun too.

  4. I follow a handful of creative/craft blogs. I also get tons of ideas from Martha Stewart and Family Fun magazines. Also, browsing my local A.C. Moore store is wonderful inspiration also.

  5. I love the Martha Stewart magazine it’s full of lovely ideas for everything you could possibly want in the way of crafting. I also truly enjoy blogs and crafting websites for crafty inspiration. Thanks so much for the chance to win.

  6. I have been collecting Martha Stewart magazines since the 90’s(many a heavy box move over the years!); which honestly I can sit nightly in bed and reread old ones over and over again. You can even see that the clever people over at Martha are having more and more bloggers/etsy sellers on her show.
I recently subscribed to Wish magazine and alas it has also closed. It is really sad to see so many publications go out of business – especially with so many amazing design firms out there you would think someone would come up with the loop idea that would make people go to their website and also buy their magazine…especially considering women do usually prefer to have a hard copy in hand. Blogging is so personal. It is tutorials, ideas all with a very very personal touch.

  7. I usually buy from etsy, check out blogs, and with the demise of several of my fav magazines, I’m not entirely sure which magazines I’ll turn to. There is always Martha Stewart (ugh), Better Homes & Gardens has gift inspiration ideas. There is still Victoria, but ME Home Companion & County Homes had lots of vendor ads, which I loved.

  8. Since I’m at the computer a lot, I tend to browse the blogs. When I’m in a waiting room, I always look for Sunset Magazine, Better Homes & Garden, Family Fun (seems lots of dr’s offices carry that!). I’m never without paper and pencil to sketch out ideas. I’ve been known to stay after my apptmt to finish a sketch, or ask the office staff to make a copy of a page for me.

  9. I love Family Fun and the Quilters magazines. Blogs and etsy are also fabulous inspiration. Thanks!

  10. Family Fun and the internet – I love the creative ideas I see!

I am a mom of 5, one being a special needs child, so time is limited but I so love doing fun little things to keep my mind off the stress!!

I’m always looking for fun things to make and sell to raise money for therapies

  11. I tend to go online more than I do a magazine. If I want to browse through mags, I limit myself to what the library has, although I’m seriously going to mourn the passing ME Home Companion. That’s been my birthday gift from my wonderful sis-in-law for at least the last 5 years. I so looked forward to each new issue. We’ll have to see how the Martha Stewart replacement feels…
