Just in time for Valentine’s Day, a handmade heart to decorate your home. The folks at Swirly Designs are sad about the recentĀ  loss of magazines like Home Companion and Domino. They are wondering where you will go for gift ideas and design inspiration.

These days we have been wondering where people go for their holiday inspiration? Where do you go to buy handmade gifts? And now, with the ending of such great publications like Country Home and Mary Engelbreit’s Home Companion, we would really love to know which magazines you will turn to now, to get your holiday fix.

For a chance to win one of our ornaments please leave us a comment by Monday midnight EST, Feb 9, telling us which magazines you read to get ideas for your holiday gifts and design inspiration from, and we will randomly choose one winner and send them one of our handmade limited edition Valentine Cupid ornament from our new 2009 collection (see first photo).

From Cindy:

There was an overwhelming response to having weekly “guest” giveaways. Over 95 percent of you said that it would be something you would enjoy. If you have a business you would like to promote or something you make and would like to host a give away please send me an email (again if you already did) and I will send you more information. Thanks!

  1. I love to linger over Marie Claire’s Idees, my French is a little rusty, but love the photo spreads. Living Crafts is another lovely magazine.

  2. l read too many blogs to count and several craft and home magainzes. this month my favorite magazines were Hobby Farm Home (newest find) and Family Fun (old standard). I refuse to purchase magazines from the rack that come in a sealed plastic bag restricting me from seeing the contents.

  3. I can honestly say I don’t get any magazines for crafting stuff. I get one quilt magazine though. (Quilter’s Home)
I get my inspiration from my home library of books that covers crafting to quilting and I do a lot of searching on the internet.

  4. I am afraid that this is the way of the future with print.. it is simply too costly to produce so I think the internet and blogs and websites will be the new way to advertise.

I think your ornaments are darling and you should have an Etsy site to sell and promote them! You will actually reach more people for a lot less money!

    best,

    carol

  5. These are so lovely! I love looking through etsy and at blogs like this and design mom for beautiful things.

  6. I am a reader of Good Housekeeping. I have old issues of craft magazines that I have kept because they had good ideas in them. I pick up Martha Stewart at the library. I do hate to see the magazines go but I can only read so many and they are too expensive to just order and throw away.

  7. I love Family Fun Magazine for all my ideas. I also love your blog! 2 great ways to stay crafty and cute with my gifts! Thanks for the chance!!!

  8. These are lovely! I read my old issues of Country Living, Victoria and ME Home Companion for ideas.
