OREO Truffles Ingredients
- 18 oz. package of OREO Cookies
- 8 oz. package of Cream Cheese, softened
- 16 oz. white candy coating, melted (white chocolate chips can also be used)
- baking sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper
- fork or dipping tool
How to make Oreo Truffles
Follow the steps for how to make oreo balls and you will have a deliciously tasty treat to give away to teachers, grandparents or even neighbors!
Crush the entire package of oreas in a food processor. Reserve 1/4 cup crumbs for decorating.
Mix in cream cheese with the finely crushed Oreo cookies. Mix well. This could also be done with a hand mixer or stand mixer. I used my food processor for the entire recipe.
Roll dough into 1-inch balls, putting on wax or parchment paper. A small cookie scoop makes this an easy task.
Refrigerate for 30 minutes or freeze 10 min.
While the oreo cookie balls are chilling prepare chocolate for dipping.
Melt the candy coating or chocolate slowly. This is important. Chocolate that is melted too quickly and gets too hot will become stiff and then be cloudy or have spots when it hardens. I melt my chocolate in the microwave at 30-second intervals stirring after each. Once it starts to melt continue stirring and it will continue to melt without re-heating. If you do need a touch more heat do 15 seconds more.
Dip balls in melted chocolate, using a dipping tool or fork. Tap fork on side of the bowl to remove excess chocolate.
Use a wooden skewer to slide ball onto wax paper or parchment paper.
Refrigerate another 30 minutes until chocolate hardens.

Tips
- If you don’t have a food processor you can crush the Oreos in a large resealable plastic bag using a rolling pin. Be sure to make the crumbs fine.
- Chill the Oreo filling before dipping, This keeps the balls from breaking bits of Oreos will into the chocolate. It also helps the chocolate harden more quickly.
- Use regular, not Double Stuff Oreos. Double stuff has too much cream filling. Other flavor varieties of Oreos do work like mint, birthday cake, etc.

Yes, leave the white cream in the oreo. All you need to do is crush them up!

Hmm… so, anyone know if we are supposed to leave the white cream part of the oreo in the truffles?

My girlfriend made these for my daughter’s birthday and the young teenage girls loved them – used white chocolate (candy) coating drizzled with dark chocolate and they were lovely and sweet!

That is totally not a stupid question because I was wondering the same thing!
Julie says
stupid question – but when you crush the oreo cookies, do you use the entire oreo, or scape off the white yummy centers and use only the chocolate cookie part???

Yummy! I love making Oreo Truffles, but instead of covering them in chocolate or dark chocolate, I use white chocolate or candy coating. They are so rich, but people love them!
