This week I am going to highlight some yummy gifts.
We are extra lucky to have Sandy, from the Reluctant Entertainer, here sharing a delicious recipe for Oreo Truffles. You will want to check out her new site. It has been totally re-done and looks fabulous. Also, if you are a subscriber or want to subscribe she has a new feed.
Kids can use their own creativity by adding different flavors and decorations – to make their very own truffles! My daughter, Abby, just whipped up a batch this past weekend and had a ball decorating them herself. I think she has the recipe memorized now! Remember it's not about perfection
I didn't stand over my daughter making sure these truffles turned out perfectly round, or that they were dipped exactly right. She had success in making them her own, and I will say it got a little messy!
What a delicious tasty treat to give away to teachers, grandparents or even neighbors!
OREO Truffles
18 oz. package of OREO Cookies
8 oz. package of Cream Cheese, softened
16 oz. Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate, melted
(I doubled the recipe using ½ fat-free and ½ regular cream cheese. I also used dark chocolate, which I bought in the bulk section at Winco grocery store.)
Mix cream cheese and crushed (fine crumbs) Oreo cookies together
Roll dough into 1 inch balls, putting on wax or parchment paper
Refrigerate for 30 minutes
Dip balls, using toothpicks or a spoon, into melted chocolate (use double broiler or microwave on 50%)
Refrigerate another 30 minutes until chocolate hardens
Anyway we can help our kids to be successful in giving it is encouraged in my home - and it usually is centered on food!

Yummy! I love making Oreo Truffles, but instead of covering them in chocolate or dark chocolate, I use white chocolate or candy coating. They are so rich, but people love them!
This is one of my favorite little treats, and so fun to have kids help with!
These spell ‘Christmas’ treats’!!!!
These are some of my favorite treats to eat, but I’ve never thought about letting the kids help. Maybe this year I’ll see if they want to decorate them for me!
I love making these – they are so easy and yummy. Thanks for the great ideas to get the kids involved.

stupid question – but when you crush the oreo cookies, do you use the entire oreo, or scape off the white yummy centers and use only the chocolate cookie part???
That is totally not a stupid question because I was wondering the same thing!
My girlfriend made these for my daughter’s birthday and the young teenage girls loved them – used white chocolate (candy) coating drizzled with dark chocolate and they were lovely and sweet!

Hmm… so, anyone know if we are supposed to leave the white cream part of the oreo in the truffles?
Yes, leave the white cream in the oreo. All you need to do is crush them up!
I made these with my four-year-old daughter and almost three-year-old son. It was so fun and easy! My son only wanted to pour sprinkles on them but we were all together and that made the truffles even more delicious! I even served them to my book club this month and they were a hit!
These were a hit, especially with my mom & brother.
Thank you for sharing, (:
