May Day

May Day is just a few days away. Here is a little download for a simple cone and gift tag.

Print out on card-stock or decorative paper(my paper was two sided so that is how I got the solid tag and printed cone), roll into a cone shape and then glue. I had pretty good luck with a glue stick (when tiny hands were present) but hot glue is more sturdy. Embellishing the cones with drawings, trims, glitter, stamps, cut-outs, is a great family project————but nothing is more fun than the “ding and dash!”

At lunch today my father in law asked if people still celebrated May day.
He is 88 years old. He said it use to be a big thing, When I was still in high school in the 60’s we use to have May pole dancers and choir singing for a May concert. But that went out shortly after.

  4. Thank you so much for reminding me…I nearly forgot it *again* this year! We’ll definitely be using your pattern and introducing the big ding and dash this year :) I don’t have trackbacks, so I wanted to let you know that I linked to you from this post http://librarycollective.blogspot.com/2008/04/may-day.html.

  5. Nobody knows about May Day in Oklahoma, but I’m trying to bring it! Last year my boys and I did three ding and dashes and had a blast. The recipients were confused, but happy! I’m using your template this year. Thanks!

  8. We always did this during my childhood. It was fun. Too bad people don’t all do it any longer. We will have to revive the tradition, I think. :)
