Our Brother Ptouch label maker winner is Elizabeth.

Thanks for the over 400 comments!  It was so fun reading through them!

On Saturday a friend came over and helped me with my craft room.  She was amazing.  It became quite apparent that I could have never done this without her.  I urge you all to get past the embarrassment and ask for help. I used to think I was just lazy, and while there is some truth to that, I quickly realized I am lacking some organizational skills.  It might seem like an easy task to group “like” things together, or group things where they are used.  For me when I see an item it has many uses  and many possibilities so it truly helped to have someone walk me through the process!

It Gets Worse Before It Gets Better!

First, my sweet friend made me take everything out of the room. OH MY!

Thank goodness she was here.  After about 30 minutes of looking at this stuff I was totally overwhelmed and ready to stop. My son said, “Mom you would have stopped and all that mess would have stayed there for 8 weeks!”—–out of the mouths of babes.

My friend continued to give me words of encouragement the ENTIRE LONG day.  She might have been dying on the inside but never let me see even one single “eye roll” over the amount of ribbon and hole punches —-that is a true friend! I am thankful beyond words for her help!

I am not quite ready to post an update photo.  I will save that for the first of February like I promised.

One thing that helped was to have plenty of small containers to sort items. It was also important to me that it looked pretty. So to help one of you get organized in a fun and pretty way, the Container Store, is generously giving one lucky reader a $25.00 gift card.  Leave a little comment here before Sunday at midnight for a chance to win!

  1. I have never been to the container store, but I have been wanting to go. This would give me the perfect excuse!

  2. Me. Me. I need organizing. Any store with any containers would do right now. But the Container Store is wonderful! Pick me!

  3. Please don’t enter me…I already have enough stuff. I’m just stopping by to say you should be proud of yourself and keep up the good work. Tackling projects like this is profoundly inspiring and you’ll feel good about it every time you think of it. (Virtual pat on the back!)

  4. I just found your website the other day and I am completely in love with it. I feel your pain when it comes to being organized. It is an affliction I suffer from also… it just seems so boring. I know that I will be much happier if I were to be organized but… oy! I just can’t handle going through all that stuff! I do try which is why I’m commenting. Can’t wait to see what your room looks like after gutting it out. Good luck!!!!

  5. I’m in a two bedroom and so out of storage space with my son’s ever growing toy/book collection. My craft supplies are started to just pile up in our walk in closet! I realy need a friend to come and help me go threw thing’s and get organized too.

  9. I’d LOVE to get organized. I need someone to come over and motivate me! I love organizing, but can’t seem to STAY organized!

  10. Oh my goodness. I NEED THAT so badly!!!
    Pick me!
Congrats on pushing through it all. I need a friend to come over to my house and do that. What a great friend. 😉

  11. I was making a list of everything that needed to be reorganized when my daughter came up and asked how she could earn money. She’s 13 and knows the way I like to organize things, so I’m paying her to do all the kitchen cupboards. SO much less stressful for me!
