Our Brother Ptouch label maker winner is Elizabeth.

Thanks for the over 400 comments!  It was so fun reading through them!

On Saturday a friend came over and helped me with my craft room.  She was amazing.  It became quite apparent that I could have never done this without her.  I urge you all to get past the embarrassment and ask for help. I used to think I was just lazy, and while there is some truth to that, I quickly realized I am lacking some organizational skills.  It might seem like an easy task to group “like” things together, or group things where they are used.  For me when I see an item it has many uses  and many possibilities so it truly helped to have someone walk me through the process!

It Gets Worse Before It Gets Better!

First, my sweet friend made me take everything out of the room. OH MY!

Thank goodness she was here.  After about 30 minutes of looking at this stuff I was totally overwhelmed and ready to stop. My son said, “Mom you would have stopped and all that mess would have stayed there for 8 weeks!”—–out of the mouths of babes.

My friend continued to give me words of encouragement the ENTIRE LONG day.  She might have been dying on the inside but never let me see even one single “eye roll” over the amount of ribbon and hole punches —-that is a true friend! I am thankful beyond words for her help!

I am not quite ready to post an update photo.  I will save that for the first of February like I promised.

One thing that helped was to have plenty of small containers to sort items. It was also important to me that it looked pretty. So to help one of you get organized in a fun and pretty way, the Container Store, is generously giving one lucky reader a $25.00 gift card.  Leave a little comment here before Sunday at midnight for a chance to win!

  1. My dear, sweet husband just bought me cabinets for Christmas to organize my sewing room. It is now painted and the cabinet are hung but I am in the organizational crisis, too! I would love some containers to help me out!

  2. I need a “clean sweep” of my craft room. I can barely get in the door. Oy. Good for you for getting it done. 🙂

  3. Oh Container Store, I dream of being able to go in a buy matching items all in one trip, instead of 1 here and there as I can afford them hoping they will be there still on the next trip. I just picked out paint to start my office/montessori school area for my two girls. This would be a fantastic addition to my quest to get organized!!

  4. Way to face the fear and do it anyway!! I realized yesterday I need some organizational help because it took longer for me to get my sewing machine out than it did to stitch up the birthday present I was making for my son’s friend! But then again, space is limited in an apartment. I’d love to have some freedom in the Container Store to help me get inspired for a solution! Thanks for being vulnerable with us!

  5. my closet has become my clothes/craft/sewing closet and it is not pretty. A $25 gift certificate to Container Store would be great. The closet definitely needs help. I can’t wait to see photos of your craft room.

  6. That is a huge step! You should be proud of yourself. And I am obsessed with organization, so I would love to win this 🙂

  7. OH MY….A gift card to the Container Store…that is a super giveaway! It would be perfect for my efforts to organize our closets!
