These Valentine party decorations are simple and inexpensive. We hosted my son’s friends for dinner before their Winter Formal last weekend. I made special pillow box favors for each of their plates and hung hearts from the ceiling. I wanted to not break the bank but yet have a fun table for their dinner. I was able to make these decorations from packages of cute paper I found at Walmart. These packages from Creative Collection™ by Neenah Papers are a quick and easy way to personalize your Valentine’s Day!
I wanted each guest to feel extra special with a little gift.
So on each plate I placed these pillow boxes filled with chocolates.

Pillow box party favors supplies
Each pillow box uses one sheet of cardstock and premium paper for embellishments. For the papers I used Creative Collection™ Valentine’s packs available Walmart. A tape roller makes these boxes go together in a snap.
How to make a pillow box
Download the pillow box template. Print template on colored cardstock and cut out.
Lightly score dotted lines with a dull knife. There only needs to be an indention along the dotted lines, not a cut in the paper. Fold on dotted lines (fold dotted lines to inside of pillow box).
Fold in the flap and place adhesive along the edge of the flap.
Fold box together.
Open up the top flap on each end of the box. Glue a 1 1/2 inch strip to the top of the box. Trim strip at each end, following the curve of the box.
Fold back in the flaps. Now you are ready to embellish the pillow box with a paper medallion. It is hard to see in the photo but for the band I chose one of the papers in the package that had a metallic finish. So pretty!
Paper medallion supplies
2- 1 1/2 X 11 inch strips of patterned paper (I used Creative Collection™ Valentine’s packs from Walmart)
2 – 2 inch scalloped circles
1 – 1 1/2 inch circle
hot glue gun
dimensional sticker
tape roller
Accordion fold the two strips of paper.
With the tape roller glue the ends together to make a circle.
Place a large dot of hot glue on one of the 2 inch scalloped circles. Press the accordion folded circle down into the glue. Hold down until glue cools slightly and paper is securely fastened.
Next layer the second 2 inch scalloped circle, then the 1 1/2 inch circle and then finish off with a dimensional sticker. Use a drop of hot glue between each layer.
Hot glue the medallion to the top of the pillow box.
Make your party even more festive by hanging hearts from the ceiling.
These pre-cut heart shapes also from the Creative Collection™ Valentine’s packs from Wal-Mart made it super easy. I used fishing line to hang them so they would look like they were floating.
I think the kids had a great time!

I <3 your table and decor!!! Lovely party idea<3 Pinned
Love these pretty decorations! They look totally attainable for an average (non-crafter) like me! Also love that they are budget friendly 🙂
I love this darling idea! I love ideas that everyone can do and create such a great table! I bet they had the best time and loved the small gifts. It’s all in the details and it doesn’t have to be expensive to show people they’re special.
Those medallions are so cute! Love them to decorate packages and gifts when you don’t have any bows handy. Super cute!
