How to Make a Paper Plate Bunny Basket

This simple paper plate Easter basket craft helps kids practice fine motor skills and encourages creativityโ€”plus, it comes together in under 30 minutes.

Here’s how to make it.

Step 1: Start with a simple paper plate. Yes, this will become your Bunny Basket.

Step 2: Using a pencil, draw two lines at the top of the paper plate and at the bottom, as shown in the image below.

Step 3: Using a pair of scissors, cut along the pencil lines at the top and bottom of the paper plate.

Step 4: Fold the cut sections on the bottom of the plate towards the middle section and use a stapler to attach them. If you aren’t sure how to do this, the video shows this clearly.

Step 5: Flip the plate 180 degrees and do the same with the flaps, folding them to the middle and attaching with a staple to secure and form a basket shape.

Step 6: Fold a small rectangular piece of paper

Step 7: Take two pieces of rectangular white paper, draw bunny ears using a pencil and cut out with a pair of scissors. Do the same with a yellow paper, but make the bunny ears slightly smaller to fit inside the white parts.

Step 8: Stick on the yellow heart for the bunny noise and using a black marker, draw the bunny face on the paper plate basket.

Step 9: Glue the smaller yellow parts of the ears to the bigger white parts and then glue them onto the paper bunny basket.

Step 10: Punch holes in the side of the paper basket and use a pipe cleaner to create a handle.
