How to Make Animals out of Hearts
These animals made of shapes are easy to create and perfect to make darling animal Valentine cards, Valentine’s Day decorations, or use to decorate the front of a Valentine sack.
Use the following heart outlines and animal templates to create your animals. These hearts are only a guide. Feel free to make your own hearts.
If you have a color printer, print the colorful hearts on white cardstock or choose the heart outlines as templates to trace around on colored sheets of construction paper.
Use your imagination to layer hearts and create animals. There is no wrong way for this project. Encourage kids to make this heart art their own by creating their own unique animals!
Heart Outline Free Printables
Use the heart outlines as a guide for these heart animals and any other crafty project. Print one set on heavy cardstock and everyone can trace around the hearts they would like to use. I also have these heart templates if you need more variety.
This animal craft for kids is fun, builds fine motor skills, and encourages creativity. Making Valentine’s day animals would be a perfect activity for school Valentine parties! If the materials are ready to go, this project will go quickly and the kids will have an adorable member of the animal kingdom created just by them!
These can also be glued to a sack (white or brown) and used as Valentine card collectors! Teachers will appreciate having a backup option for any student who does not bring a Valentine box or sack!
How about turning this activity into a festive and healthy Valentine treat? Use mandarin oranges for the noses! The oranges can just be set on top of the heart animal or use a couple of adhesive dots to attach. TIP: If the adhesive dots aren’t sticking well to the mandarins, wash them with soapy water, rinse, and dry them very well before applying the dots. Add a black pom pom to the “nose” for an extra detail.
