Delicious Gluten Free Pressure Cooker Pasta with Meat Sauce

I have made this pasta in the instant pot with both Barilla and Ronzoni brand pasta with great results. If you are looking for more Instant Pot recipes to make dinner time a breeze we have you covered.

We use our pressure cooker (Instant Pot brand) at least four times a week. It has made a huge difference in our meal planning. I always have this Instant Pot Spaghetti Sauce on hand. I either make it, divide the ingredients into two freezer bags, and freeze (add 10 mins to the cooking time if cooking from frozen) or I divide the recipe making one to eat now and one to freeze. It is one of my favorite pasta sauces made in the pressure cooker.

  1. I want to double this, would doubling everything work or do you think it would be to much liquid and do you think I need to change the cook time?

  3. Hi Peggy,
Hit on, then manual then use the + and – to set the time. Make sure the spout is turned to the back and let the instant pot do the work. It will first say on then come to pressure then start counting down the time.
If it doesn’t come to pressure it usually means there is not enough liquid.

  4. I am new to the Instant Pot. How do you “wait” for it to pressurize? Do you go ahead and push Manual and the time you want and it pressurizes before the timer starts ticking? I made a chicken and rice dish and it flopped. It seemed it wasn’t pressurized. Thank you!

  5. I haven’t tried that pasta Ruth. I would assume the cook delay would affect the recipe, as the noodles would be soaking in the liquid for 6 hours, also I would be worried about the meat not being refrigerated for that long of time. If you had all the ingredients ready to go and place them in the pressure cooker when you arrive home, you could have dinner on the table quickly. Allow about 10 mins for the pressure cooker to pressurize.

For days like this the crock pot might be a better choice. Hope this helps.

  6. We had this for dinner last night and it was delicious. My first instant pot pasta meal! If I don’t want to eat meat, can I use the same proportions and directions for the sauce, water, and pasta and cook time? Are the directions the same just omit the meat? I tried to wing it tonight because I cleared my internet history and couldn’t find this recipe and everything was a disaster! After that mess, I set out to find this recipe and bookmark it!!!

  7. Have you tried this recipe with Ancient Harvest brand Lentil and Quinoa Rotelle? I am trying this tonight since I need to have a quick meal to come home to after doctor’s appointments after school. Does having the time delay on for 6 hours prior to the cook time affect the cook time? I needed to be able to have everything prepped and be able to walk away and come home to dinner.

  8. I have made it with regular pasta. I promise you though, if you use Barilla brand pasta he will never know the difference!

  9. Marian, using only the marinara is too thick and I don’t think you will be able to get the pressure cooker to pressurize.

  10. Hi. I’d rather not use broth or water. Does it have to do with the gluten free pasta? Can I just increase the marinara quantity? Look forward to your reply. Thx

  11. Does this work as well with elbow macaroni. As it is, I have a hard time getting my husband to eat gluten free pasta, his mom was 100% Italian, so I usually use elbow, or small shell tinkyata. He’s also not a fan of penne.

  12. So happy you liked it Melissa. You must try the spaghetti and meatball recipe I have too. Super easy and yummy! It is a full pot so it does take some time to pressurize.

  13. I made this last night as my first instant pot recipe and it was amazing!!! I was so impressed with myself for pulling it off. I followed your recipe but added a few things – I sautéed in a tiny bit of olive oil to get my onions a little browner. I added a chopped up zucchini and I added a dash of white wine. Best dinner I have ever made. Thank you so much!! And the gluten free pasta was cooked perfectly.
