Let me tell you what’s the best thing about using a holiday dessert charcuterie board for your Christmas party: there’s no wrong way to make them! There are no steps, no order, or requirements to make them. However, there are some things you should take into account.
We kept our candy charcuterie board with a very Christmasy-theme, so we used mostly green and red colors.
The trick to making your board stand out from anything else on the dessert table is adding a variety of textures. There’s nothing more boring than a board that looks all the same.
Other than that, it’s just a matter of nicely arranging your sweet treats, so it looks more appetizing and eye-catching.
What to put on the perfect Christmas dessert board:

- Peppermint candies
There’s nothing more seasonal than peppermint candies! From the colors to the smell and flavors of candies, they are a simple and inexpensive delight that can be found in the seasonal aisle of any grocery store.

OK, if there is anything more Christmasy than peppermint candies, it is candy canes. The great thing about candy canes is that they are very easy to arrange. We just used a festive container and placed them inside.
- Christmas m&m
Or any m&m’s for that matter, although red and green m&m give that holiday feel we’re trying to evoke. Add them to the center of the board on small bowls for easy access.
- Gummy candies
Gummy candies are a must-have in any Christmas-themed dessert charcuterie board. They are colorful, flavorful, and easy to find. You can add gummy bears or any kind of gummy you have at hand.
- Homemade desserts
Although this is a candy board, you can also add other types of treats if f you have the time and like baking. Delight your guests with homemade Christmas treats. There’s nothing more delicious than homemade cookies just out of the oven!
Like the homemade desserts, dips are a nice extra but not really a necessity. A hot chocolate or marshmallow dip is always a great way to add more flavor and fun to a dessert platter, especially if you have fresh fruit around.
Other extras you can add are popcorn and pretzels if you’d like to have some savory items too, but we prefer to save those for a different board.

Now that you’ve gathered your ingredients, it’s time to assemble your Christmas candy board! Below you’ll find ideas – not rules nor steps – to make a beautiful board.
- Place the candy on the edges of the board. Try to keep each type of candy separated in its own area, but it’s totally fine if they mix a bit.
- Place cups with the smaller candy, such as M&M’s, on a cup or container and put them in a corner, the same with the candy canes. That will make them easier to grab without messing up the board.
- Fill the middle with whatever you have the most of, whether it’s chocolates, hard candy, or peppermint. Show off the big variety of candy you have.
- Anything leftover that you have in small quantities add them last to fill in any holes and gaps you have between the candies.
- If you are using fruit, think about getting skewers, forks, or toothpicks for easy grabbing.
- Place colors that complement each other next to each other to make the board more visually appealing.
- For a small group, like under 12 people, one to two cups of candy should be enough. If you serve other dessert options, you can have less candy.
