  • 7 green cupcake liners (or any color you choose)
  • 7 white cupcake liners
  • Glue gun
  • Hot glue sticks
  • Ribbon or twine for hanging

How to Make a Christmas Ornament from Baking Cups

Here’s your step-by-step guide to making these paper ornaments. It isn’t that difficult, so get the kids involved this holiday season and have some family fun. Make sure you use a low-temperature glue gun is working with kids. A tape roller would also work for this project.

Step 1: Take a green cupcake liner, flip it over, and flatten it.

Step 2: Add glue to the right side of the liner, fold it in half, and press to stick it down. Repeat this process six more times to make a total of seven folded pieces.

Step 2: Repeat the same steps with the white cupcake liners, making seven folded pieces just like before.

Make seven of these as well.

Step 3: Begin with a white cupcake liner. Apply two lines of glue, one at the top and one at the bottom, then stick a green cupcake liner on top. Continue this process, alternating colors, until all the cupcake liners are layered.

Continue the process, alternating between the white and green cupcake liners until all have been stuck down.

Step 4: Take a green ribbon, fold it in half, and apply some glue to the folded end. Attach it securely to the back of the layered cupcake liners to serve as a hanger.

Step 5: Add two lines of glue to the top and bottom edges of the front-facing cupcake liner. Then, carefully fold the back section around and press it into place to complete your paper ornament.
