- 9 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 3 cups packed brown sugar
- 3 cups white sugar
- 4 cups shortening
- 8 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 4 cups m&ms white chocolate or butterscotch chips
- 6 plastic bags 4 1/2 cup size
In a very large bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, salt, brown sugar, and white sugar.
Add the shortening and stir until mixture is like sand.
Stir in the chocolate chips and other chips until they are mixed in evenly.
Place 4 cups of the mix into each of the six bags. There should be some of the mix leftover. I was able to add another 1/2 cup to each of the bags.
Attach the following directions to the bag: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a medium bowl beat together 2 eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Add the entire contents of the bag to the bowl and stir until combined. Drop by spoonfuls onto a baking sheet and bake in preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are just golden. Don't overbake. Makes about 2 dozen cookies.
If it looks like you ended up with more than 1/2 cup extra for each bag, measure the leftovers. You might have 4 cups to make another gift. It is hard to be exact since the chips are different sizes. You need a minimum of 4 cups of mix for each bag, but I wouldn't add more than 4 1/2 cups per bag.
Nutrition facts are for a whole gift mix that will make about 24 cookies.
