…so we are celebrating with custom pillowcases and made beds (well some of us are — remember I also have teen boys)!

To make our custom pillowcase we used Crayola Fabric Markers (I found them at Michael’s Arts & Crafts and used a coupon) and a plain white pillowcase.

These markers are great! Bella literally spent hours working on her pillowcase.ย She is really into hearts as you can see!ย She asked me to draw a heart shape. The pillowcase was thin enough that I slipped a paper with a heart drawn on it in the middle and she could see it well enough to trace.ย It would be fun to use coloring book pictures as templates also.ย A child could easily decorate anyway they like, but if they seem intimidated have them make a drawing first on paper and then they can trace it.
** Makeย sure you place a piece of cardboard inside the pillowcase to keep the markers from bleeding through to the other side. Read package directions for setting the fabric.**

Really the possibilities are endless for this craft—- slumber party or birthday crafts, gifts, etc.. They could even be further embellished with bits of fabric, trims and embroidery.
Bella loves her new pillowcase!

I love the pillow! I hope to win a set of the markers. My kids are grown, but I’ve been wanting to trace some of their art onto a tee shirt and incorporate some of the characters they made up.
Brings back vintage memories…but using my aunt’s embroidery pens. SO…pick me! I would love to use the markers in my AWANA class.
Winning these would make a great house warming gift for my sons and my best friends daughter to use as a project in our new home!
I will also be tweeting, plurking, facebooking and posting this everywhere I can!! .. lol..
This is absolutely wonderful!!! My sons and I are planning to relocate to a new town with a friend of mine and her daughter in about a month or so. This project would be great for them to do to personalize there spaces! We will definitely be trying this out once we move and can get the supplies to get started. Thanks so much for this great idea! I absolutely love your blog with all of its wonderful information, resources and projects. Keep up the good work and keep them coming!
It is interesting to try these fabric markers. I doubt I will use it for the pillow case especially for the child – it may cause allergy. Direct contact with the skin for several hours at night.Crayola is a famous and high quality brand, but….better safe than sorry. Decorating clothes seems the best for me. Another thing to consider – hand -washing or machine-washing?
That looks like allot of fun! And I am not talking about for the kids, I am talking about me! LOL! Sure hope I win one of these!
And your daughter did a great job! And she is cute too! My granddaughters’ name is Isabella!
What a great project — my kids would love to sleep on their very own decorated pillow case!
FUN FUN FUN!!!
I would definately like to give them a try! Sign me up!
I think these are soooo much better than trying to use fabric paint and all that jazz, I can’t wait to get some!
This is a great idea. I’ve bookmarked it for those cold Maine winter days ahead. Thanks again!
My teen daughter was just asking me if there is such a thing as fabric markers! Brilliant! We’re getting those today.
Thanks.
I am usually covering every surface area to protect from fabric paint OOPs. This look like they work like regular markers. Would to try them.
Looks like an awesome fun project ๐ My girls (one year old today ๐ ๐ :)) are still a wee bit young for this one, but I can’t wait to try it out with my nieces ๐ Thanks for yet another fantabulous idea ๐
Love this craft idea!
