…so we are celebrating with custom pillowcases and made beds (well some of us are — remember I also have teen boys)!

FabricMarkers3

To make our custom pillowcase we used Crayola Fabric Markers (I found them at Michael’s Arts & Crafts and used a coupon) and a plain white pillowcase.

These markers are great! Bella literally spent hours working on her pillowcase.ย  She is really into hearts as you can see!ย  She asked me to draw a heart shape. The pillowcase was thin enough that I slipped a paper with a heart drawn on it in the middle and she could see it well enough to trace.ย  It would be fun to use coloring book pictures as templates also.ย  A child could easily decorate anyway they like, but if they seem intimidated have them make a drawing first on paper and then they can trace it.

** Makeย  sure you place a piece of cardboard inside the pillowcase to keep the markers from bleeding through to the other side. Read package directions for setting the fabric.**

Really the possibilities are endless for this craft—- slumber party or birthday crafts, gifts, etc.. They could even be further embellished with bits of fabric, trims and embroidery.

Bella loves her new pillowcase!

  2. LOVED the way your little one’s pillow case turned out!! I will have to try this one with my little ones! Love your site! I’m “stealing” a lot of your ideas!

  3. oh wow! Cool beans. They would be perfect for my son to re-colour a pillow case he spent a ton of time on when he was 3. i didn’t heat set it correctly, so he can now do it again, 3 years later. thanks for the info. and product review.

  4. This is a wonderful idea! I have a soon to be 5 year old that’s really into wanting to make her own things that aren’t’ always exactly like her 3 year old sister’s things. It would be a neat thing to do for her 5th birthday party to have each child make their own, or even she have her own to make and keep each year, or should I say, me, to keep in her hope chest each year. Very cute idea and I would love a set of these markers!

  5. These sound perfect for a fun preschool craft. I know my daughter would love to give them a try.

  6. My five year old is surfing tonight with me and has declared the need for a great pillowcase “like that girl’s”. Great job Bella. We’ll be making our own soon!
