  1. Cindy, I recently subscribed to your site and enjoyed today’s post with the silk flower for hair ribbons and hats. This could work well for me as I make lots of beanie/cloche hats for little girls. Thanks for the ideas. Arlene, theroseyposey.com.

  2. Love the way you share step by step directions. They are beautiful and perfect baby and little girl gifts.

  3. I kinda like the idea of not hot-gluing it because then you can use if for multiple flowers. Love the idea of interchangables!

  4. Elaine, I decided to just slip the clip into the leaf but it could be hot glued to the flower if you like.

  5. Ahhh, if I only had a girl, too! Thankfully everyone I know seems to be having girls – so yay! Someone to make these for. 🙂
Question – so you’re not gluing the clip to the flower? Just slipping it under the leaf part?
    Thanks for the tutorial!

  6. Another easy way to assemble is to use a decorative brad (often found in the scrap booking section) to hold the flower together. You can also sometimes find containers of petals in the scrap booking section to use to make more delicate flowers!

  7. The brads are a great idea and I have seen some really cool ones in the scrapbooking section at the craft store! Thanks for sharing!

  8. We do flowers like these but use Gerbera Daisies, which are available in lots of colors. I love the idea of using the brads, Athena!

  9. This is a great idea! I do something similar, but instead of gluing the flowers together, or gluing a gem on the front, I use a brad (I find big, gem looking brads), push it through the hole in the flowers, push it through the first hole in the metal clip, then open up the brad. I’ve got a flower that can go on anything.

What makes it even better, is that I can rearrange the flowers (I’ve got a big box of them) to match whatever outfit my daughter is wearing. Since there is no gluing, there is no permanence and the flowers are interchangeable per the outfit/occasion.

My daughter comes down to my room every day to ‘make her flower’ for each outfit every day. And it’s easy enough she can do it all by herself!
