September is National Sewing month, so there is no better time to get sewing.  I received an Alex Toys Sew Fun Sewing Machine
from ALEX Toys and also one to giveaway for one very lucky reader. Another lucky reader will receive their cool My First Sewing Kit

ALEXsewingkit

ALEX had me at the box. The sewing machine comes in a darling heavy cardboard suitcase and so does the sewing kit —too cute.

I was hesitant at first.  I had read about kid’s sewing machines and it  seemed most people recommend just buying a simple full size  sewing machine. However, is hard to explain how much excitement this little machine brought to my house. Even my husband was hooked! So they got busy!

There is just something about young boy fingersALEX5

and little girl’s toes sewing that makes my heart leap with joy!

They had such a good time.  I have no idea how long this machine will last, but it seems durable enough.  We have not tackled the projects included with the sewing machine yet, but they look simple. The machine was ready to go straight from the box, which added to the fun and excitement.  I do wish it had a reverse stitch. I was worried that the loud noise it makes might scare the children—but not around here.  My daughter has asked everyday to sew. I think the small size and colorful style make it appealing and accessible for children.

  5. My girls would love, love, love to win this adorable sewing machine!! They are always wanting to do a sewing project. They received a “kid” sewing machine for Christmas a couple of years ago, but it never worked very well. They seem to have a little trouble with my big clunky one (it’s a little old), so they would definitely enjoy this one.

  6. My daughter is showing interest in sewing and has mentioned she would LOVE to have her own machine. This one would be perfect!!!!

    THANKS!!!!

  7. Oh I would love to win this for my daughter, and well even myself. My mom sews and well I should have taken more time to learn growing up…so….regret this. Anyhow, my daughter wants to sew after making shorts with my mom and we have nothing! Maybe we could learn together on simple projects.

    Thanks.

  8. Hi Cindy Lou! What an amazing machine! I have never seen one that actually works and doesn’t get all tangled up. I use to teach children’s sewing classes and I definitely agree! There is something about those fingers and toes! I ma new to your site but I am so excited to be here! My teens have a machine from years ago and my 11 yr old (boy) and 7 yr old (girl) have been wanting to learn but I haven’t let them because the machine seems to go one speed and not one that they can handle! This machine looks perfect for my younger two!

  9. We want to enter for the contest! My daughter is taking a sewing class at homeschool group, this would be perfect for us!

  10. This would be a perfect starter gift for my neice who I have slowly been teaching to sew some. Thanks for the opportunity.
