My kids enjoy gifting as much as I do and love to see the smiles on the faces of those receiving. Because they like giving to others they get so excited to do projects like making kids Christmas wrapping paper. And it is more than cute watching them giggle as Grandma and Grandpa comment on their artwork.
Homemade gift wrapping paper adds a vintage look to holiday gifts. It’s so charming to see Christmas gifts wrapped in reindeers. Just think how they will accent all your decorations – like Santa Claus.
This paper is also perfect for wrapping all your Homemade Christmas gifts When people make homemade gifts they share a bit of themselves with each one. I always appreciate the time and creativity put into the DIY gifts I receive. It makes me love each and every one of them.
What’s Needed to make Reindeer Wrapping Paper?
To make this adorable wrapping paper you just need a bit of drying time plus the following. (This section contains affiliate links.)
- Brown contractor’s paper – choose the width you need for your gifts (I prefer extra-wide jumbo roll for large gift wrapping. I especially love extra heavy paper…no peeking here!)
- Brown acrylic paint
- Red acrylic paint
- White acrylic paint
- Black permanent marker (Sharpies are a good choice.)
- Round sponge brush
- A container with a flat surface large enough for the child’s foot (A disposable plate works great for small feet.)
How to Make DIY Christmas Wrapping Paper
Unroll the length of paper you would like for your wrapping paper and cut. Don’t worry if you want to turn it all into wrapping paper you can also do that.
Place some brown acrylic paint on a flat surface long enough for a foot to be placed into the paint. Place foot in paint and stamp on the paper making the head of the reindeer.
Once the footprint is dry, with red acrylic paint and a round sponge brush add a nose to the heel of the footprint.
With a Sharpie marker add antlers.
Next, add some white eyes using a round sponge brush and white paint to the dried footprint. When dry add some black details with the black permanent marker to the eyes.
So easy to create your very own reindeer wrapping paper!
Make sure to put the finishing touches on your presents like a pretty gift bow and gift tag.
Clean up Tip
Keep some damp rags handy to clean excess paint off your children’s feet and hands. Otherwise, you may find little reindeers all over your floors.
