Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

Looking for delicious banana chocolate chip muffins? Look no further!  I love warm muffins fresh from the oven and these are just right! If you like moist muffins that are full of flavor and chocolate chips you have found your recipe!  This for sure is what you need to do with overripe bananas.  We are also huge fans of banana bread. You might like my go-to chocolate chip banana bread. I share two recipes one with whole wheat flour for a slightly healthier version.  I make this easy banana bread when I am in a hurry. You won’t believe how moist and delicious it is and it starts with a cake mix!

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

Moist delicious banana muffins with chocolate chips

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups  flour
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas about 2 large
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup  butter melted
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.  Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in large bowl. Mix mashed bananas, egg, melted butter, vanilla and milk in medium bowl. Stir banana mixture into dry ingredients just until blended, do not over-mix. Stir in chocolate chips.
  2. Divide batter among muffin cups, filling each about 3/4 full. Bake muffins until tops are pale golden and tester inserted into the center comes out with some melted chocolate attached but no crumbs, about 25  minutes.

I have also baked them in these cute nut cups. I loved how they kept their color and the muffins came out beautifully! They didn’t even need to be sprayed with cooking spray.

These muffins freeze beautifully. So if you happen to end up with some extras just freeze for later. This recipe also works for mini muffins.  They make a great grab and go snack.

    Today is 9/25and I needed this time space to bake choc. chip banana bread for 9/29/2018 will the bread be safe . I will wrap in serran wrap and then place in a plastic freezer bag. I will store it in my cool/ china hutch. Thanks

      I would wrap the bread tightly and place in the freezer. This bread freezes beautifully.

      I am not sure Wendy, I think there are some online programs that allow you to put in the ingredients and find the calories.

    I made these this morning, took the advice of another comment and added about a teaspoon of Penzy's apple pie spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, clove). They were delicious. My very picky 3 year old loved them as well! Will definitely make again!

      I haven't had that problem, Shelby. You could always just spray your muffin pan with cooking spray and bake directly in the pan without the papers.

    This recipe is for 12 muffins, however these portion cups are slightly smaller than a regular size muffin so I was able to make 16 muffins.
