Once a month, beginning today, nine very different bloggers are attempting to recreate in our own homes a project or design element inspired by a haute couture design selected by Darlene Weir of Fieldstone Hill Design. The {ditto} DIY Challenge:

Create your own painted tray and vanity vignette.

Here is my first {ditto}DIY project:

My Tray

I loved this challenge because it had me pulling special items out of my drawers and closets!  I purchased these glass and metal hurricanes while living in Germany. There was a little shop in a redone barn that I loved to visit. Just looking at them brings back such wonderful memories. I also forgot how much I like kaleidoscopes (and how many I had). I pulled them out of a drawer and now everyone can enjoy them! My tray was also the perfect spot for the antique glass flower vase with a ‘frog’ type lid that a sweet friend just game me. I love decorating with items that have meaning. I feel it brings warmth and personality to a room.

  2. Gorgeous – I love how this turned out and the story behind the pieces you used.

  3. I like to surround myself with things that I love too! I love the shape of your tray!

  4. Beautiful display! I love pulling out old decor that I’d forgotten about. Your whole vignette with the candles and flowers just feels so relaxing and calm. Love!

  5. It’s beautiful!! One day, when I don’t have 2 and 5 year olds that knock everything down, I’d love to have something like this on my living room coffee table!
