How to make Halloween Candy Suckers
Prepare molds by placing a sucker stick or pencil pop in the mold.
Melt candy coating slowly in the microwave at 15 second intervals. The candy coating can also be placed in an oven. Preheat oven, place candy in oven (pie plate works well), turn off oven and let candy sit in oven for about 10 minutes. It is important to not over heat the candy.
Place melted candy in a disposable decorating bag or zip lock bag. Snip of the end and fill molds.
Fill molds and then tap mold firmly to help the candy settle and remove air bubbles. Make sure sucker stick or pencil pop is covered.
Place filled molds in freezer for about 10 minutes. Leaving the candy in the freezer for longer than 20 minutes can cause it to be sticky. Candy will come out easily when hard.
If making suckers with two colors, put one color in mold first. Place in freezer for about 2-3 minutes.
Remove from freezer and pour warm (not hot) candy in mold. Candy should be just warm enough to pour. Candy that is too hot will make the first color run. Fill molds and tap firmly to remove bubbles.
Some features on the molds are easier to add a second color after they have been removed from the mold. I love these new candy writers for adding tiny details. It is the same candy coating, but in a tube.
Place candies on pencils and you have some awesome Halloween treats!
