We enjoyed this beautiful day with a long walk and a collection of acorns. The acorns needed a special home, a crochet covered acorn necklace.
This wonderful idea is from Resurrection Fern, a beautiful and thoughtful blog. For instructions visit Resurrection Fern's Covered Acorn Necklace Tutorial. I used a US size D crochet hook. I did have to increase the diameter on the last two rows to 15 stitches. I did this by adding SC two times in every other stitch. My chain for the necklace was about 125 stitches.
Now our acorns have a special home. Be sure to get extra acorns because it is a bit of a crisis if one falls out!
Thanks for taking the time to visit me today!

My three-yr-old daughter is collecting acorns. This necklace would be so perfect for her! It’s adorable.
wow those are some big acorns
Oh my gosh, how gigantic, those are marvelous! What fun. Do you think you can carefully take the top off, hollow out the inside, and put the top back on like a secret box?
Your little babe always puts a smile on my face.
How sweet to give a snuggly home to an acorn! What gorgeous models!
wow! I’ve never seen such huge acorns! I can’t image one of those falling on your head. lol
Love the idea. thanks
Really the acorns aren’t that big–I think it is just the angle and how close I got in the picture.
What a cute idea, now if only those things were around here.
Wow, is it just me or are those acorns HUGE!? Very cute.
Anna
I love this. And so will my little girl will also.
She collects so many things from outside. This inspires me to do something with them. Thank You!
That really is a perfect idea. My daughter loves to collect leaves, acorns, rocks, pinecones, etc., as well, so she will love this. Thanks!
I have often had trouble with worms that come out of the acorns as they start to try. I pop the acorns in my toaster oven at 200 degrees for awhile just to be sure they are dead. If the caps pop of, a dab of glue will take care of that. Wish I knew how to crochet!
I LOVE THIS. I might just have to make one for me! We just got back from our cottage and I always bring back some fallen acorns. I have a special wooden bowl I put them in….and all year remind me of my special time at the cottage in the summer! I never thought of putting them in the toaster oven, I have always put them in a baggie and in the freezer for a week. I could make a few acorn hangers for our christmas tree! And other decorations around the house!
Thanks for the ideas
Jane!
Well aren’t those the sweetest!! My girls love collecting acorns!

Those are the BIGGEST acorns I ever seen! Wow!

The acorns in my area are about the size of my thumb and are not nearly as cute.
