…so we are celebrating with custom pillowcases and made beds (well some of us are — remember I also have teen boys)!

FabricMarkers3

To make our custom pillowcase we used Crayola Fabric Markers (I found them at Michael’s Arts & Crafts and used a coupon) and a plain white pillowcase.

These markers are great! Bella literally spent hours working on her pillowcase.  She is really into hearts as you can see!  She asked me to draw a heart shape. The pillowcase was thin enough that I slipped a paper with a heart drawn on it in the middle and she could see it well enough to trace.  It would be fun to use coloring book pictures as templates also.  A child could easily decorate anyway they like, but if they seem intimidated have them make a drawing first on paper and then they can trace it.

** Make  sure you place a piece of cardboard inside the pillowcase to keep the markers from bleeding through to the other side. Read package directions for setting the fabric.**

Really the possibilities are endless for this craft—- slumber party or birthday crafts, gifts, etc.. They could even be further embellished with bits of fabric, trims and embroidery.

Bella loves her new pillowcase!

  1. What fun! I have 4 kids that would love to decorate pillowcases…we might even have a slumber party and let their friends decorate some too

  2. These are awesome! My kids did a similar project using handkerchiefs (they also did pillow cases) when we were on a cruise. They had the best time coloring their projects. The pillow cases have been washed & they lovingly remember their cruise when they use those cases!

I may use a plain tablecloth for the “kids” table at Christmas & let the kids decorate it with the markers. How awesome would that be for an annual reminder of their youth!

  3. I’ve never heard about those markers, oops, but they look awsome, i will definatelly give it a try. We can even try to make the whole bed set, can you imagine how peacefull our houses will be, with the kids drawing all day “in bed”? Thanks

  4. Hmmmm . . .you’ve got me thinking. WE are having a Halloween birthday party in October, maybe decorating the pillow case for trick or treating could be an activity at the party . . .

  5. I would love these markers and if I don’t win I may just go buy some. The possibilities are endless and I already have projects floating around in my head. Combined with the Cricut there is no stopping me.
