Panasonic asked me to review a couple of new products. Since the holidays are here and I am  on the look out for some techie gift ideas for those hard to buy people on my list I thought this sounded fun.   First up Panasonic’s new Link2Cell Phone.  I thought it sounded interesting, but I have to admit once I opened it up I didn’t get the point, until….

Panasonic Link2Cell

I heard my cell phone ringing all over the house. It was like having a landline once again. Brilliant! I quickly realized I didn’t have to carry my cell phone everywhere I went in my home.  With two handsets I can have a phone upstairs and down and answer a call, regardless of where my cellphone is parked.  I can keep my cell phone where coverage in my house is best and put a handset where coverage might be sketchy to extend my coverage.  It also serves as a charging station for my cell phone, eliminating extra cords and chargers. My cell phone doesn’t have to be on the dock charging, for this system to work and I don’t need a landline (but it can be used with a landline). Very cool!

Since giving up a landline my daughter can’t make or receive a phone call without taking over my cell phone. Now my cell phone can be safely in my possession at home while she is able to talk to family and friends.

It also has a few more clever features like a built-in answering machine, and its handsets can work as speaker phones or as an intercom.  It also  has a high-quality speaker for playing music via Bluetooth. Now, I don’t need another speaker system for my kitchen.  You can link up to two smartphones to the system. This ensures that, regardless of dead zones in your house or misplacing your cell phone , you will never miss a call.

Another new gadget from Panasonic that would make great techie gift are there new Open Ear Headphones.

Panasonic Open Ear Headphones

While these headphones weren’t a home run with my teen boys, my husband and I liked them!  The headphones use bone conduction technology that sends music from cheek bones to inner ear. They also have and open-ear design (they sit outside the ear)! I love that I can hear my surroundings while on my walk while still listening to my book on tape. They are comfortable and stay in place during a jog and can be used rain or shine since they are water resistant!   These headphones are also great if  you would like to tune into a podcast or listen to music while working around the house but want to be able to hear what your kids are up to in the other room.
