I’m Randi from Dukes and Duchesses! I’m a mom to five kids and I love doing crafty projects and making things my kids will enjoy. These colorful pom pom flip flops are simple enough that my five year old could even make them with just a little bit of help … and the final result is fluffy cuteness just perfect for summer! They even help hide the dirty toenails of an outdoor-loving nine year old {or at least they help distract}.
To make these fun flip flops, you’ll need flips flops in your child’s size {you can find cheap flip flops at most stores this time of year} and scrap yarn. I used different colors and different textures of yarn but one color would also make a really great monochromatic look.
To get started, you’ll need to make a pile of pom poms. My pom poms are about two inches wide and I needed nine to cover each flip flop. I used a storebought pom pom maker but you could also use the fork method if you don’t have one. If you’re not sure what I mean by the fork method, check pinterest for piles of tutorials.
When tying the center string around each pom pom, leave the ends long. You’ll use these to attach the pom poms to the flip flops.
Starting at the center, tie each pom pom around the top of the flip flop, tying a tight knot. To keep the knot from untying or unraveling, I like to add a drop of hot glue to each one.
That’s all there is to it! Fluffy pom pom flip flops will be all the rage this summer and your child can have a pair in every color!
