We don’t own a DS, so it’s hard to say which game would be my son’s favorite. I’m guessing he would love anything to do with Toy Story or Mario.

We’ve never played DS but he loves Monkey Ball on the gamecube.
My sons favaorite game is Zelda, with Mario Bros, a close second.
My son loves any sort of competative games, mostly sports, team on team. We have just started to research the DSi to see about getting it for our son for his 6th birthday next month.
