Grab some marshmallows or popcorn, then make edible paint by mixing milk and food coloring together. For a thicker paint, try sweet evaporated milk.

  1. The grandson and I did this tonight and it kept him busy for a good hour! Thanks so much for the great idea!

  2. Our favorite way to “paint” food is painting cookies. We mix egg yolk with a few drops of food color, then cut out sugar cookies (slightly thicker than usual if the kids are young, little folks tend to stab their cookies with the brushes). We put the cut out cookie dough on a parchment lined sheet and start painting.

When the cookies bake, the paint will crackle and darken some, and it is always fun and fabulous.

  3. Oh my gosh, so fun! I’ll have to get my 5 yr old sister to do this with me so I don’t look like a weirdo doing it alone 😉

  4. What a great idea to use marshmallows and popcorn. I’ve had the kids paint toast with colored milk. It works great but I think they would enjoy eating the marshmallows and popcorn more!
