Simple Chunky Crochet Pattern

This free pattern is super easy to make and if you are used to crocheting should take you just over an hour to finish. The finished scarf is a little over 6 feet long. Adjust your chains accordingly.

Ingredients

  • 1 Size J (6mm) crochet hook
  • 2 balls Lion Brand Hometown (Chicago Charcoal)

Instructions

Crochet Instructions

  1. Dc in 3rd ch from hook. (Ch 1. Sk 1 st, dc into the next st.) Repeat all across the scarf. Turn.

  2. Ch 3. Starting in the first space created by your skipped sts, work a dc (ch1, work a dc in the next chain space) all across your scarf. Work a dc in the last st. Turn.

  3. ( you can add rows here to make your scarf thicker if you want)

    Ch 3 (counts as first st). Work a dc in the first space. (Ch 1. Dc in next space) Repeat all across your scarf. Dc in last st. Turn.

  4. Ch 3 (counts as first st). Work a dc in the first space. (Ch 1. Dc in next space) Repeat all across your scarf. Dc in last st. Turn.

  5. Ch 3. Work a dc in the first space. Ch1. *Dc in next space. Ch 1* Repeat all across your scarf. Dc in 3rd Ch from the beginning of the previous round. Break yarn and leave a long tail.

Adding Fringe to Scarf

  1. To make the fringe, cut lengths of yarn about 10” long, one strand of yarn for each stitch across. To attach them, fold the piece in half, push the loop end through a chain space on your scarf, pull the two ends through the loop, and pull tight.
