Equipment

  • Oven
  • Cookie Sheet
  • Non-stick cooking spray or parchment paper
  • Pizza cutter or sharp knife to cut the pastry
  • Sharp knife to cut the sausage

Ingredients

  • 1 pound kielbasa sausage any brand you prefer
  • 1 package puff pastry
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 Tbsp water

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F. Then spray a baking sheet with nonstick spray or line with parchment paper.
  • Use a sharp knife and cut the Kielbasa sausage on the horizontal into pieces (approximately 1/2 inch thick). Set the Kiebalsa sausage slices to the side.
  • Thaw out puff pastry sheets according to product instructions.  When thawed they should be just pliable. Roll them out.
  • Use a pizza roller or knife to create 2 inches by 1-inch strips of puff pastry.
  • Roll each Kielbasa sausage slice in a strip of puff pastry and place it on the prepared cookie sheet. The strips of pastry should overlap when rolled and the sausage should just be peaking out of the open ends.
  • Make the egg wash by mixing one beaten egg with one tablespoon water and brushing it on each slice.
  • Bake for approximately 10 minutes or until the dough is a light golden brown.

Notes

  1. Dampen your pastry brush with water before dipping in the egg wash will keep the egg wash from coagulating on the brush.
  2. You can add flavor and texture to these roll-ups. Try adding a small slice of Swiss or sharp white cheddar cheese before rolling the Kielbasa sausage in the pastry.
  3. You can use a leaner sausage like turkey Kielbasa or another sausage you enjoy.
  4. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
