Turkey Puppet Craft Supplies

  • a few pieces of felt (brown and a variety of colors)
  • some googly eyes
  • sewing machine or needle and thread
  • scissors
  • pinking shears (optional)
  • glue

TIP: I like tacky glue for felt. Tacky glue uses a thick formula that helps the glue from soaking through the felt fabric. You can try Elmer’s Tacky Glue and Aleene’s Tacky Glue (aff. links)

How to Make Turkey Finger Puppets

With just a few supplies you can make this super cute turkey craft! Kids get to enjoy making and then playing.

  1. Cut two pieces of brown felt larger than a finger (allow extra for the seam)
  2. Sew the pieces of felt together (middle picture above).
  3. Embellish the edge of the brown felt with pinking shears if desired.
  4. Using a variety of felt colors cut tail feathers, a beak, and waddle.
  5. Glue the feathers to the back and the eyes, beak, and waddle to the front.

IDEA: Have the bodies sewed and the pieces cut so children can assemble before Thanksgiving dinner. The puppets can be drying during dinner so kids can put on a puppet show after dinner.

  2. Love these! what a great idea you had to have these as spoon holders at our childrens’ table — and the best part — to have that cutie, craft partner of yours here too! Can’t wait!

  3. Your little cutie just lights up a room with that smile, doesn’t she?! The turkey puppets are adorable and they just pale in comparison. :0)

  4. Super cute idea! When I was student teaching a LONG time a go I made something similar, but used a glove and glued the feathers on that. I like this version for little ones.
