Here is my favorite sugar cookie frosting. It is smooth creamy and oh so delicious! I promise you it really does make the very best sugar cookie.
I use this simple sugar cookie icing recipe all year round for any special event that I want to take sugar cookies to. This frosting for sugar cookies is great to spread on nice and thick with a knife on easy sugar cookies. or if you like cut out cookies this is the best sugar cookie recipe. So soft and buttery!
You will find this sugar cookie frosting has way more flavor than a cookie glaze with corn syrup. Some might call this sugar cookie icing. While this frosting will crust so you can stack the cookies it remains soft and delicious, unlike royal icing that gets hard. This sugar cookie frosting is more like a yummy buttercream frosting. You will not be disappointed!

Jess, I am not sure, it makes enough to frost about 5 dozen cookies I think.
How many cups of frosting does this make?
Ash, I don’t refrigerate them.
Once frosted, should the cookies be stored in the fridge or are the cookies fine once they’re frosted outside the fridge?
Thanks so much for sharing this!
Creme Bouquet Substitution:

I got this recipe on cc. Can’t remember who gave it. Sorry!
I mix it up in a big amount and store it in a small bottle. I use it all the time it’s very good!
Christen, place them in airtight containers and they will be fine for several days. This frosting does crust so once it is set the cookies can be lightly stacked. I often put a piece of parchment between the layers.
How do you store them if making a day in advance?
j’aimerais obtenir la recette de crème bouquet pour m’en faire SVP, pouvez-vous m’indiquer les quantités et les ingrédients pour cette crème, votre glaçage semble tellement bon et crémeux, j’ai hâte de le faire.
Do you cream the butter before adding anything else or do you literally just pour everything in your mixer and go??
Do the cookies have to be refrigerated after being decorated with this frosting.
Thanks.
Kristen, I haven’t ever had a problem. I do use my mixer. It is a smooth creamy frosting.
This is my new go-to recipe to decorate my sugar cookies. I normally would not have tried something new as my own recipe was well loved by my family. Now I need more decorating ideas. Love this!
