The awesome Kim from Today’s Creative Blog is here today to share a clever idea to satisfy our hungry kids and keep them busy!
Thinking of things to keep my 11 yr busy and off the play station can keep me on my toes. He loves art and he loves projects…….especially if they involve food. S’mores on a stick are right up his alley. While cruising through my Get Your Craft On weekly links, I found this project from Whimsical Creations……….I instantly loved it because I figured my son could pretty much do it on his own, building self esteem and satisfying his need for independence all at the same time. And it involved chocolate.
Items needed to make S’Mores on a stick:
- Graham Crackers
- Lollipop sticks
- Dipping Chocolate
This is where most boys will be very happy……they get to crush the graham crackers. While he’s crushing, I placed the chocolate candy discs in the microwave for 2 min. You can also melt using a double boiler.Yes, that is a dirty string on his wrist….he’s had it on for a couple of months. He’s wearing it until it falls off……..or until I cut it off in the middle of the night.
After pushing the sticks into the marshmallows, dip and swirl your marshmallow in the melted chocolate. Let excess chocolate drip off before rolling in the graham crackers. This is where you could add sprinkles too……or toffee chips……or crushed peppermint, or crushed fruit loops…..the possibilities are endless. And if you’re 11, you’ll get distracted by the chattering of the bird that’s on the house next door….and you’ll ask your mom to take a picture….because it would be interesting on the blog. Place them on your plate….or cake plate in a haphazard fashion like any 11 yr old would. Let it set for about 30 min. Then enjoy the fruits of your labor! The perfect treat for kids and adults of all ages. Enjoy!
