What you will need to make This Ziti Recipe

To make this delicious tomato, cream, and parmesan based ziti recipe you will need:

  • Olive oil
  • Garlic cloves, minced
  • Salt
  • Red pepper flakes
  • 2 – 14.5-ounce cans diced tomatoes with basil and oregano
  • Water
  • Uncooked ziti pasta
  • Heavy cream, 1/2 cup
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, 1/2 cup
  • Grated mozzarella cheese

How to Make Quick and Easy Skillet Ziti

  1. To begin making this recipe you will sauté the garlic and red pepper flakes with the olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat for about 2 minutes to sweat out the flavors.  Don’t let the garlic turn brown, doing so could make it taste bitter.cook garlic and red pepper flakes
  2. The next step in the cooking process is to add the canned tomatoes, water, ziti, and salt and cook covered on medium-high heat for about 15-18 minutes or until the ziti is almost tender (aldonate).  Cooking the ziti directly in the tomato mixture will allow the pasta to absorb all the delicious flavors from the garlic, red pepper flakes, and tomatoes.add ziti to the sauce
  3. Then stir in the cream and parmesan cheese creating a creamy tomato-based sauce.  Once you have the sauce mixed together add salt and pepper to taste.add in cream and cheese
  4. You can serve the pasta right out of the skillet sprinkling it with mozzarella cheese, but what makes this recipe even better is to bake it in the oven melting the mozzarella cheese on top of the ziti.melt cheese on top

  1. Wow this was delicious. And so easy to make. The cream + parm + mozzarella were wonderfully rich – but what I really liked was the slight kick from the pepper flakes. We’ll definitely have this again.

  3. We loved this dinner. The sauce was so simple I will never buy store-bought again!

  4. This is a great recipe. I make it all the time. I’m a great cook and small alterations and substitution don’t keep it from tasting like some of the best Ziti I’ve had in fine Itslian restaurants in NYC.

  5. Used crushed tomatoes so had to add about 1 extra cup of water. Very easy. Thanks for sharing!

  6. Made a couple of changes because we live 22 miles from grocery store. You learn to make do with what you have. No ziti used elbow mac. No cream used canned evapo milk. Used my home canned tomatoes just chopped them up and added the herbs. Added a little chopped onion with the garlic. Turned out really good will make it for my grandkids. Thanks!

  7. Nice. Thanks for posting this. I’ll definitely return to your site to see what’s new and recommend my neighbors about you.
