Welcome  Michelle from A Little Tipsy

With our last day of school just days away, we like to be armed with some fun activities up our sleeves to battle the boredom that is bound to surface. What I don’t like are activities that take longer to set up than to play. Simple and easy is the ticket for us! These rocket ship straws take just a couple of minutes to get ready and are simple enough for the kids to put together on their own!

What you’ll need:

  • Narrow Bendy Straw
  • Wider Bendy Straw
  • Scissors
  • Rocket Printable
  • Double sided sticky tape
  • Crayons (optional)

Start off with a free rocket printable like this these. Symmetrical is best because then they can be two sided. We chose the blank rocket so we could color and personalize ourselves.

Cut out your rockets. Each straw will need two rockets so it will be decorated on each side.

Place a strip of double sided sticky tape down the center of each rocket. Trim off the bendy part of the narrow straw so you are just left with the straight long part. Place the  straw in the center of the tape on one rocket.

Place the other rocket on top of the straw to make it two-sided. Press the top of the rocket together with the tape to seal. Seal the little “legs” with two little triangles of tape. Trim the long part of the wider straw to 3 1/2 inches. Place the narrow straw inside the wider straw and you are ready to go!

Count 3, 2, 1, blast off, blow through the straw and watch your rocket fly!

  1. Doesn’t work. Looked cute. I didn’t have two sided tape,so maybe th as t is why.

  2. Love this idea! Do you have to seal the top of the straw that is being taped to the rocket? How does the rocket launch? I’ll be making these this weekend!
