Hi there! I'm so thrilled to be guest posting today on Skip to My Lou!

My name is Ginger, I blog over at Ginger Snap Crafts.

You can also connect with me at these fun places.

I love being creative, and it seems like I'm always in the middle of a project.

I've been blogging for almost a year & a half.

Over that time I have shared 100+ of my cute & easy projects.

I love having my own little place to share my ideas.

It is really a creative outlet for me, & I love it!

I have a wonderful hubby, and I'm also a mom to 5 kiddos.

About two weeks ago I had some special visitors come to my house!

My mom drove up with 4 of my nieces & nephews

while my hubby & oldest son spent the week at Scout Camp

which meant we had 8 kiddos in the house all.week.long!

It was crazy, a little wild & a whole lot of fun!

Since it’s been awhile since we’ve had that

many of the cousins together we

declared the whole week~ Cousin Camp!!!

I've been sharing some of the fun things we did

& how we keep organized over on my blog.

{You can check out the rest of the Cousin Camp post here.}

With 8 kiddos in the house I knew that we needed to keep

the dishwashing & spills to a minimum {so we could play longer!}.

I saw this idea & knew I had to try it out!

These mason jar drink cups did the job perfectly.

They were a huge success {& soooo easy & CHEAP to make}!

You’ll need:
WIDE MOUTH mason jars, WIDE MOUTH plastic storage caps

{I bought both of these at Walmart in the canning section.}

chalkboard labels & paper straws

I found these cute paper straws on etsy,

& I just found out you can buy paper straws at Sweet, too.

I cut the chalkboard labels with my Silhouette.

To make these first I had the hubby drill a hole in the lid.
{Be careful…we did have one lid crack! Oops!}

Then we used a box cutter to trim off any loose plastic.

Then I applied the chalkboard labels.

Then I added the straws & wrote on the names.

Soooo cute & easy! Love how they turned out.

UPDATE: After the first day we got tired of rewriting their names with chalk,

so I did end up just cutting everyone's name with vinyl. 🙂

It worked great! I ran these through my dishwasher with no problems.

So for birthday parties I think chalk would be great

but long term use…vinyl is the way to go. 🙂

I would love for YOU to stop by my blog.

  1. Great idea, I am always trying to recycle what I have. I think I will try these with plastic peanut jars. They already have good lids and you could decorate each one with a different words like “be mine” “your cute” and plastic is safe around the pool. Thanks

  2. I want to try these. They are so cute! I was wondering how you ‘cut the names with vinyl’? Did you do that into the chalkboard labels? Also, where do you get the labels? Do you think chalkboard paint would. work? Thanks!

  3. Thanks for the great idea. And very cool to see theme “Rylan” on a blog picture. I have a Rylan too, but we NEVER see her name in the many crafty blogs we read. 🙂
