Hello Skip to my Lou readers ~ I’m Mary Beth from Cupcakes and Crinoline and today I am sharing a cute kids craft with you. You can make this craft for your kids but it would also be a great way to teach them some sewing basics. As a matter of fact as I was making these my youngest son expressed a desire to learn how to sew so we will be making more of these, plus some other crafts, this summer.
These are fun to learn to juggle with or just throw back and forth ~ think Hot Potato!
Supplies:
Larger scraps of fabric
Rice or beans for stuffing the chickens
Needle and thread or sewing machine
Sharpie
Felt
Cut rectangles of fabric 4 inches by 8 inches ~ fold in half right sides together.
Cut out beaks and hair ~ freehand cut them so that each little chicken is unique.
Place hair and beaks in between the layers of fabric as shown.
Stitch around all sides leaving a small opening to turn right side out……
Stuff with rice and hand sew the small opening shut and add eyes with a black Sharpie.
Now PLAY!
Here are a few of my favorite posts and hopefully you’ll like them as well. My kids love peanut butter and these peanut butter bars with a fluffy frosting are one of their favorite desserts. If you have extra t-shirts laying around that the kids have grown out of make them some fun pillowcases in 5 minutes. Also, here’s an easy DIY bird feeder to make with the kids ~ mine had so much fun watching the birds eat from their feeders and they look forward to making them every year.

These beanbags are so cute! Thanks for sharing this project. I might need to make a set for my preschool classroom. They can’t juggle, but we could have all kinds of fun with these!
Crafting these juggling chickens would be such a relaxing activity this weekend. I hope a get 2-3 spare hours to try this. Thanks for the tips!
