I love to bring cut flowers inside! Here is a simple tip you can use to make your blooms last a little longer. All you need to do is add 1/4 tsp of bleach to your vase and fill with water. The bleach will kill any bacteria in the water and help your flowers last longer.

  1. WOW! WHO KNEW??? We’re just never too old to learn – thanks so much for sharing. I have some iris in bloom and am going to pick some today and try this little trick.

  2. I *LOVE* lilacs! When growing up we had a HUGE bush next to our house. I have tried a couple of times to grow them, but I have never succeeded… alas… I will have to do with my memories…

    Thank you for the tip!
I’ll have to try it out!

  3. A fresh cut and fresh water every 2-3days no foliage under water eassssy!Woody stems should be crushed in order to drink water.

  4. Another way to make them last longer is to pull off some the green foliage going up the stem .If you buy your flowers at a florist this will already be done for you.

  5. Lilacs are my fave! Where I live, we will not be seeing any until the end of June!

  6. Thanks! I wonder if those little packets that are sometimes available with store-bought cut flowers contain some bleach.
